On Friday, November 19th, the David Campbell Memorial Association received a check in the amount of $1,897.50 from the Rose Festival Association. On October 1, 2010, the Campbell Memorial Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing bravery in the line of duty and honoring the legacy of Portland Fire Chief David Campbell, partnered with the Rose Festival Association in a charity golf tournament.
The donation amount will go towards the costs of constructing a new fallen firefighters’ memorial at the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge, which will honor the lives of 36 Portland firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Fundraising efforts to build the memorial are currently underway. You can read more about the memorial effort at http://www.portlandfirefightersmemorial.org.
A huge thank you to the Rose Festival Association for allowing Portland Fire & Rescue to participate in this event.
