Firefighter Ed & Training Lieutenant Chris

Volunteering under the umbrella of Global Mission Readiness (GMR), Portland Fire & Rescue Firefighter Ed from Station 3 and Training Lieutenant Chris will be joining two Clackamas firefighters to travel to West Africa to provide emergency services education and resources to representatives in Ghana, Africa.

GMR is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 2009 to provide emergency services education and resources to developing nations and to promote disaster prevention and self-reliance.

Ed and Chris will leave for Ghana, Africa in late May 2011 to teach courses throughout in basic first response and disaster preparedness.

POKER TOURNAMENT & SILENT AUCTION

To help raise donations for airfare costs to Ghana, Ed and Chris will be hosting a poker tournament and silent auction on Saturday, March 5, 2011.  Festivities start at 6:00 pm at the 4th Street Brewing located at 77 NE 4th in Gresham, Oregon. 

Community members are welcome to attend to watch the poker tournament, bid on silent auction items including a Blazer package with courtside seats, and support the firefighter’s mission to Africa!
