Good Neighbor Alerts Homeowner to Early Morning Garage on Fire in NE Portland

Portland firefighters responded to a garage fire at 6719 NE Mallory this morning in NE Portland at 5:31 am. A neighbor reported the fire and alerted the residents, who were able to safely evacuate. Firefighters found active fire coming from all sides of the detached garage upon arrival.
"Firefighters were very concerned about the fire spreading from the garage to the house and took precautionary actions to save the home," said Lieutenant Don Wagner.
Firefighters were on scene in four minutes from the time the fire was dispatched. The fire was quickly knocked down and recalled in just over ten minutes.
Fire Investigators were called to the scene and are currently working to determine the fire's cause. Damage estimates are not yet available.
