Fire Chief John Klum and Firefighter crews from Portland Fire & Rescue’s Truck 22 and Engine 22 participated last Saturday in one of Portland's oldest community traditions, the 49th Annual St. John’s Parade.

The family friendly, neighborhood festivities began at noon with an opening ceremony presented by Roosevelt High School students.  The parade began shortly after, winding from Burr Avenue, to Lombard Street, to New York Avenue, and ending at the St. Johns Community Center on Central Street.

Truck 22’s Lieutenant Bill and Firefighters Jeff, Chris, and Jeremy and Engine 22's Lieutenant Mike and Firefighters Dominic, Michael, and Adam proudly exhibited the fire apparatus that serves St. John's, waving at the community along the parade route.

The Annual St. John’s Parade is the first official event of the Rose Festival and is the third largest in the City of Portland.  It usually draws thousands of entrants from Vancouver to Salem. 

More About Fire Station 22 

Station 22, serving the Cathedral Park, St. Johns, and Linnton neighborhood associations, is located at 7205 North Alta Street.  The Station was built in 1954 and retrofitted in 2001.  The fire apparatus housed at Station 22 includes a truck, engine, brush unit, utility vehicle, ATVs, and rescue boat.
