Yesterday afternoon, citizens lined the streets to celebrate our community’s children at the annual Fred Meyer Junior Parade. More than 10,000 kids took to the parade route that winded through NE Portland's Hollywood District. The Junior Parade is open to children middle school age and younger and their adult chaperones.
Crowds were excited to see the marching bands, school groups, scout troops, children's organizations, youth clubs, dance teams, and families that joined in the parade wearing costumes and riding on bikes decorated with flowers, crepe paper, streamers and balloons. There were also colorful floats towed on wagons.
Rescue 11 is housed at Station 11 located at 5707 SE 92nd Avenue
Thousands of spectators attended the Junior Parade and, as expected, some of the revelers required first aid. Portland Firefighters Christopher and Aaron from Station 7 were onsite with Rescue 11 ready to provide those services to the public and participants.
