Illegal Fireworks Drop-Off Locations - You Can Make a Difference

This year, in conjunction with Operation Lower the Boom, Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) will be taking additional steps against illegal firework use during the Fourth of July.

In an effort to educate more people about the adverse impact illegal fireworks can have, including fires, injuries, stress/anxiety for people and pets, property damage, and pollution in their neighborhoods, PF&R will take part in a radio campaign that will run on 92.3 KGON and 99.5 the WOLF, and print ads in both the Oregonian and Willamette Week.

Portland residents are reminded that even if they currently have fireworks that are illegal, they can be a good neighbor and avoid any of the negative issues caused by these (including penalties) by dropping off unused fireworks at any Portland Fire Stations and Police Precincts.

For a list of PF&R fire stations and their locations, visit http://www.portlandonline.com/fire/stations. For a list of Police Precincts, visit http://www.portlandonline.com/police/index.cfm?c=43598.

Those wishing to turn over illegal fireworks at these locations will face no penalty.

Thank you for your participation in making this holiday safe and more enjoyable for all Oregon residents.
