Just after 0800 hours this morning, Portland firefighters from Station 5 responded to 4938 SW Barbur Blvd #8 on a cooking fire. They soon discovered a male in his early 70's that had received severe 3rd degree burns to over 50% of his body. The fire was out and contained to the stove top. The victim was quickly rushed to Emmanuel Burn Center in critical condition.

Fire investigators were called, at this time it is unknown how the fire started.
