September is National Preparedness Month and Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) is urging citizens to take time this month to prepare for a disaster before one strikes. During this month, PF&R will be providing information, resources, and tips to assist you with emergency preparedness.
“It’s important to prepare yourself, your family, and your community for the unexpected,” said Matthew Silva, a PF&R Fire Lieutenant and Liaison with the Portland Office of Emergency Management. “Portland Fire is here to help citizens understand understanding what to do, where to go, and how to survive in a disaster.”
To kick off National Preparedness Month, start by listening to Scott Winegar’s interview with Zoe Loranger of KBOO Radio's Youth Collective discussing what the community can do to prepare for an emergency. Winegar is the Operations Manager for the Portland Office of Emergency Management. Click here to listen to the ten minute podcast of the interview.
