The brave men and women who serve local communities in Oregon and SW Washington were honored this past weekend at a 9/11 Tribute Dinner sponsored by the Oregon National Guard, Responder Life, Citizens’ Crime Commission, and the Public Safety Chaplaincy.
At the entrance of the Convention Center, Portland Fire & Rescue firefighters from Stations 1 and 13 used fire trucks to raise a large American flag to welcome guests.
Thousands of police officers, firefighters, and military personnel filled the Oregon Convention Center for this special event, enjoying a night of honor, tribute, music and special programming.
Citizens and businesses sponsored hundreds of tables where first responders were invited to reconnect with old friends and break bread together. The highlight of the evening was the Keynote speaker, Retired Lieutenant General Gerry Boykin, who thanked first responders for putting their lives on the line and sacrificing daily to ensure the safety of our community.
