4:15 PM
At 2:58 pm Portland Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a house on fire at 3024 NE 19th St. It was reported that neighbors heard an explosion and could see black smoke coming from the garage of the residence. The crew from Station 14 (Alberta Park) arrived 5 minutes later to find a detached garage on fire and a male victim who sustained burns to his arms.
Engine 14 pulled a hose line and aggressively extinguished the fire while Truck 13 (Lloyd District) gained access to the garage and checked for any exposures to make sure the fire would stay contained to the structure. Simultaneously, Engine 13 began patient care on the victim.
The fire was brought under control at 3:17 pm. The patient was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but did sustain burns to both arms. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but a Portland Fire Investigator is on scene working to determine the cause of the fire and damage estimates. Updates will be given as they become available.
