NEWS RELEASE 2/11/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to Residential Fire

Fire crews were dispatched to a house fire (8220 NE Humboldt) at 12:05 pm. Station 12(Sumner) arrived to "heavy smoke" coming from the from the front door. The occupant was quickly ushered to a safe area and treated for smoke inhalation. He was later transported to a nearby hospital. Station 28 (Rose City), Station 2 (Park Rose), and Station 14 (Vernon) also responded to the fire.

Fire Investigators are on scene to determine a cause and damage assessment. No one else was home at the time of the incident.

Portland Fire & Rescue would like to remind all to get out and stay out during a fire. It only takes a few moments before one starts to feel the effects of smoke inhalation. Numerous signs and symptoms may develop. Symptoms may include cough, shortness of breath, hoarseness, headache, and acute mental status changes.
