NEWS RELEASE 3/2/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to 2-Alarm Fire in SE Portland
At 7:51pm Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a commercial fire at 4621 SE 27th Ave. The crew from Engine 25 (Woodstock) arrived at 7:55pm and reported seeing smoke coming from the back of the structure.
Fire crews entered the building, encountered a large amount of smoke, and began searching for the fire. Fire was seen issuing from the roof so a truck crew used their aerial ladder to gain access and began extinguishing the fire from above. Additional fire crews were needed to protect adjacent buildings due to the proximity of the fire. A second alarm was dispatched at 8:03pm which brought the needed resources to the fire scene.
Fire crews were able to locate the remaining fire inside the building and extinguish it. The fire was brought under control at 8:36pm. No injuries were reported on this fire. Fire crews remain on scene mopping up and ventilating smoke from the structure. Portland fire investigators are also on scene working to determine the fire cause and damage estimates. More information will be given as it becomes available.
