NEWS RELEASE 3/14/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to House Fire at 2621 SE 174th Ave
At 6:49 this evening Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a house fire reported by neighbors. Neighbors called 911 when they saw flames and smoke coming from multiple windows of the two story home. Initial arriving crews found the home fully engulfed in flames and began firefighting operations from the exterior. Eventually crews were able to reduce the amount of fire inside the home and take hose lines to the interior and completely extinguish it. A truck crew from station 7 was used at the scene to make access to the roof and cut holes so that smoke and heat conditions could vent and allow for interior crews to advance hose lines.
Neighbors reported that the home had been vacant for over a year. Fire investigators are at the scene attempting to identify the cause.
Updates to come when available.
