NEWS RELEASE 3/15/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to Early Morning House Fire
Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire (3005 SE 87Th Ave.) at 4:16 this morning. They arrived to flames coming out of several windows of the home. Station 11 (Lents), Station 25(Woodstock),Station 19 (Mt. Tabor), and Station 7 (Mill Park) responded within minutes to put the fire out and make sure that it didn't spread to neighboring homes. All occupants were accounted for upon arrival and no one was injured.
Fire investigators believe that the fire started on the back porch and quickly spread into the home, eventually going up the walls into the attic. Damage is estimated at $60,000.
Portland Fire & Rescue would like to remind all to check your smoke alarms monthly. Proper routine testing and replacement of the batteries will keep the alarm in good working condition and allow it to provide the protection that will reap the most benefits.
