At 7:13pm Portland Fire & Rescue was dispatched to an apartment fire at 3228 SW Hillsdale Highway. Engine 5 and Battalion Chief 1(C1) arrived first to find smoke coming from a first floor apartment. C1 took command of the fire and Engine 5 took a hose line to the fire affected apartment. Additional engine crews provided back-up hose lines and the fire was extinguished before it could spread to neighboring apartments. Engine and Truck crews are currently at the scene assisting fire investigators with removing debris so that an investigation as to the cause of the fire can be conducted. No injuries were reported. Damage to the 40 unit apartment building has been estimated at $50,000. Updates to follow.
