NEWS RELEASE 4/24/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to Residential Fire at 13209 SE Ankeny Ct
At 1236am Portland Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to report of a house fire at 13209 SE Ankeny Ct. Originally the call was thought to be a tree in the front yard on fire. Several calls to 911 reported that the tree fire had extended to a duplex. Truck and Engine 7 were the first crews to arrive. They found heavy fire and smoke showing from the garage of the residence. Engine 7 began with an initial exterior fire attack with hose lines and then transitioned to an interior effort once the flames were knocked down enough to make it inside. Truck 7 placed ladders to the building and moved to the roof to cut holes to release heat and smoke for the interior crews. Additional fire crews assisted with extinguishing the fire and providing emergency medical care to one resident of the duplex who suffered burn injuries and was eventually transported to Emanuel Hospital's Burn Center. The extent of the injuries are unknown at this time. Fire investigators are currently at the scene
conducting an investigation. Damage assessment and cause are not known at this time.
