At 2:15am PF&R crews were dispatched to the report of a vehicle that had possibly entered the Columbia river and submerged. When crews arrived they gathered information from witnesses and began attempts at locating where the vehicle had entered the water. PF&R fire boats and land crews were used to locate the downed vehicle and it was discovered that in fact a fence had been run over and a vehicle had rolled down an embankment and into the Columbia river. Firefighters were able to pull one occupant out of the river who surfaced as they were searching the waterway. At the time of this release the occupant had not given confirmation as to the possibility of additional occupants. The Multnomah County Sheriff's dive team was requested but had not arrived on scene at the time of this release.
