At 2:01am Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a residential fire at 3776 SE 8th Ave. The crew from Station 20 (Sellwood/Moreland) arrived first on scene and found a heavy amount of fire on the first floor of the house. Due to the amount of fire involvement, fire crews were forced to extinguish much of the flames from outside the house before they could transition to attacking the fire from the inside. Once crews entered the structure they discovered the fire had extended to the basement and second floor. Fire crews extinguished the fire while simultaneously searching all floors for possible occupants.

The fire was brought under control at 2:43am and crews remain on scene mopping up. No injuries were reported at this fire and an investigator is on scene working to determine the fire cause and damage estimates. More information will be given as it becomes available.
