NEWS RELEASE 7/16/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to House Fire in NE Portland
Firefighters were dispatched to a residential fire (415 N.E. 127Th Ave.) shortly after 6 PM. Station 7 could see a column of smoke as they left the station, so they knew that the fire was still growing. The fire started in the back patio area, ignited several motorcycles and extended into the home. The smoke from the burning rubber tires made it difficult for firefighters to locate the seat of the fire. An additional Truck was called out to help cut holes in the roof to ventilate the home.
All occupants were out of the home by the time firefighters arrived, including the 4 family dogs. There were no Injuries during this incident. A fire investigator has determined that the fire started by wood placed too close to a burn barrel. A damage estimate is forthcoming.
