NEWS RELEASE 8/26/13: Portland Fire & Rescue Responds to a House Fire
This morning at 4:08 am, Portland Firefighters were called to a house in SE Portland. When firefighters from Station 25 (WoodStock) arrived, they found heavy fire burning on the back deck and into the homes interior. The fire was also burning in the attic. Firefighters from Truck 25 began searching for victims and assessing ventilation needs while Engine crews worked to extinguish the fire.
All of the homes occupants had evacuated prior to firefighters arriving. No injuries were associated with this fire. The fire was extinguished and firefighters began the "overhaul and investigation" process. Overhaul is the time when firefighters dig through fire debris to ensure that the fire is completely out. A Portland Fire Investigator was called to the scene and will be working to determine the cause of this fire and provide a damage estimate.
This fire was initially called in by an alert neighbor. Residents are encouraged to call 911 in the event of any emergency, you could save a life!
