At 2:53pm Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a natural gas investigation at 1524 SE 41st Ave. The crew from Station 9 (Hawthorne District) arrived and found a vehicle that had struck a gas meter and called for additional resources. Fire crews pulled protection hose lines in case of fire and evacuated homes and businesses within one block of the incident. Fire crews are currently using air monitors to keep track of the amount of gas in the air around the involved area and are working closely with PGE and NW Natural to get the power and gas shut off to the house.
No injuries were reported at this incident and traffic is affected in the immediate area. Additional updates will be given as they become available.
