NEWS RELEASE 10/15/13: PF&R Responds to House Fire at 34th and Clinton
At 7:36 this morning PF&R crews were dispatched to reports of a house fire at 2539 SE 34th ave. When crews arrived they found smoke coming from the basement of a two-story home. Engine 9 responded just blocks away from the home and was able to send a crew with a hose line to the basement within minutes of the the initial report of the fire. The only resident was waiting outside and reported that there were several puppies trapped inside the home. As additional crews arrived, an effort was made to retrieve the puppies, all 9 of which were successfully rescued.
The house was in mid-remodel phase making fire spread a concern for crews as they covered each floor to contain any further damage. An investigator is on the scene to determine the fire cause and assess the loss. No injuries to firefighters, occupants or pets reported.
