Internships

Interning with Commissioner Fish’s Office

Thanks for your interest!  We occasionally have limited-term, volunteer internship opportunities (usually 3-6 months long).

Interns in our office provide invaluable support to the team in a variety of ways:

  • Constituent Relations: Take phone and email comments and relay them to the Commissioner; help constituents with questions find answers.
  • Research: Prepare briefing packets for Commissioner Fish on a wide array of policy issues.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update our contact databases.
  • Communications: Draft stories for Commissioner Fish’s website.
  • Front Office: Answer the main phone line and greet visitors to the office, help with general administrative tasks.
  • Community Meetings: Attend public meetings on behalf of our office and prepare summaries for the Commissioner.
  • Media: Track local media for articles relevant to our work.
  • Event Staffing: Help prepare the Commissioner for events, which can include writing talking points, working with community partners to coordinate logistics, photographing events, accompanying the Commissioner at community events, and helping with follow-up.

Candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills and be proficient with computers, internet research, and Microsoft Office.

To be considered for an internship, please send a cover letter and resume to:
