The 22nd Annual Columbia Slough Regatta is happening this Sunday, August 7th

August 4, 2016

The Columbia Slough Regatta is returning for its 22nd annual on-the-water festival honoring Portland’s hidden waterway – the Columbia Slough!

This Sunday, over 400 people will meet at St. Johns Launch to paddle the slow-moving waterway with their kayaks and canoes. It is great for both first-time paddlers and experienced boaters.

The wetland waterway is an essential habitat for bald eagles, fish, turtles, otters, and other wildlife.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to tour St. Johns Prairie, a former landfill site, and enjoy live music featuring the Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising Band.

Check out the Columbia Slough Watershed Council’s website for more information about this fun event.

Nick visits Russellville Park

August 4, 2016

Last week, Nick was honored to speak at Russellville Park about key issues in our community.

Russellville Park is a senior retirement community center in the heart of Southeast Portland. It is known for its welcoming atmosphere and adventurous residents.

Nick spoke about how proud he is to serve alongside great local partners – Elders in Action, Age Friendly Portland, and Portland State’s Institute on Aging, who all focus on building a civically-engaged community of older adults. They provide many resources and programs that connect and empower older adults in Portland.

When we remove barriers for older adults to easily access City resources, everyone in our community benefits.
