"Now more than ever"
July 6, 2009
"Times are hard, but we can't stop investing in creativity and innovation, the very key to our economic recovery", writes Carole Morse in a July 4 guest opinion piece in the Oregonian. She applauds the Portland City Council for recently approving full funding for the Regional Arts and Culture Council for the coming year and for supporting the arts agenda in Portland.
She encourages Portlanders of all stripes to support the arts, writing that "now more than ever, we need the arts - and the arts need us. Businesses, foundations, governments and individuals should lend their support in whatever way they can to preserve the vibrant arts community that we have built together, and to protect our amazing collection of cultural assets."
