Oaks Bottom mural takes flight
October 5, 2009

Nick spent last Friday afternoon at the dedication of the Portland Memorial Mausoleum Mural, a project headed up by Mike Houck, longtime Portlander and Executive Director of the Urban Greenspaces Institute.
Designed and painted by local company Art FX Painting and Murals, the mural covers over 40,000 square feet and is the largest hand-painted mural in the country; it overlooks the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge and is visible from as far as the West Hills.
Special thanks to sponsors Spirit Mountain Community Fund, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Bureau of Environmental Services, Portland Parks and Recreation, the Portland Memorial Mausoleum, the Willamette Fun(d) of the Oregon Community Foundation, ArtFX Murals, Miller Paint, and NW Scaffold Services, Inc.
Thanks to Mike Houck for the photos!
