Portland Timbers announce $50,000 donation to Parkrose High School
May 28, 2010
At a Parkrose High School assembly this morning, Portland Timbers owner and president Merritt Paulson presented Parkrose School District Superintendent Dr. Karen Fischer Gray with a check for $50,000 to help support the future Parkrose Regional Soccer Center. Commissioner Fish was on hand to deliver remarks at the event, also attended by Commissioner Amanda Fritz and members of the Parkrose School Board.
"The Portland Timbers have a longstanding commitment to community involvement," Commissioner Fish said. Last Fall, the Timbers were presented with the Small Business Award and the Innovations in Philanthropy Award from the Portland Business Journal's Corporate Philanthropy Awards. "With their support, we hope to continue to expand recreational opportunities for children here in East Portland and throughout our city."
The Parkrose Regional Soccer Center will host soccer clubs, school teams, and kids from all over East Portland. A grand opening celebration is planned for Fall 2011.
KGW was on hand at the event as well - see their video here.
