Parks in the news
November 5, 2010
Congratulations to our fantastic team at Portland Parks & Recreation! This week City Auditor LaVonne Griffin-Valade released results of the 20th Annual Community Survey, and we're very proud of what citizens said about our Parks staff.
- 86% of residents rate parks services good or very good
- More than 1/3 of Portlanders visit a park at least once a week
- 9 in 10 respondents rate Parks ground maintenance highly, a testament to our great grounds crews
Also this week, the City approved a tentative Collective Bargaining agreement with the District Council of Trade Unions, representing shared sacrifice and shared gains.
We are also making progress with exciting partnerships. In Council on Wednesday, Nick announced a new collaborative agreement with Portland Public Schools. Parks and PPS have worked together for more than 50 years to jointly manage shared facilities and programs; this agreement strengthens and expands our partnership moving forward.
