Cyclocross takes over PIR this weekend!
December 2, 2010
Are you familiar with cyclocross?
Many of us aren't. It's a combination of running, climbing, and cycling that Parks calls "both tactical and crazed." Typical cyclocross, they tell us, involves a mix of paved and off-road surfaces over flat or rolling terrain. The challenge is navigating the obstacles every course presents, which force riders to either maneuver around them while carrying their bikes or try to jump ("bunny hop") them.
This weekend, the Portland International Raceway will host the Stanley Portland Cup, the season finale of the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross.
Join the crowd for rowdy, raucous fun this weekend! Amateur races begin at 8 am, and elite men and women will take to the course beginning at 1:45.
