Holiday fun at Director Park
December 2, 2010
Director Park is a gem in the heart of downtown. It features sustainably-harvested wood, stones designed to become more beautiful with age, movable furniture to encourage a wide variety of uses, and Violetta, an on-site, sustainably-oriented cafe.
Since opening in the Fall of 2009, the park has become a favorite location for presenting events.
This month, the park has a fun and festive lineup of events planned:
This Wednesday the first Chanukah Menorah Lighting offered free latkes and dreidels - the nightly lightings will continue through next Wednesday, December 8
- This Saturday and next, Parks staff and volunteers will sell winter wreaths fashioned from park prunings - all proceeds help support Nature Camp scholarships for Portland area kids
- Musical performances include the German Singing Society, 60 singers strong and a Portland tradition since 1923, on the 5th; the Robert Gray Middle School Band and Choir next Sunday the 12th; Beati Chorum's Lumiatra choral group on the 18th; and Beati Chorum's premiere women's ensemble, Caliente, on the 19th
