Elders in Action honored with Governor's Volunteer Award
December 13, 2010
Nick is very proud to serve older adults in our community as the official Council liaison to Elders in Action.
This week, we're excited to share with you that Elders in Action's Personal Advocate Program has been honored with a 2010 Governor's Volunteer Award.
Personal Advocate volunteers provide personalized assistance to older adults in the Portland area who need help with housing, health care, crime, abuse, or fraud. Since July of 2006, the program has helped more than 11,000 seniors and has recovered $1.3 million lost to fraud, billing errors, or other problems.
For more than four decades, Elders in Action has helped capture the talent and wisdom of older adults who are looking for active and meaningful ways to stay engaged and make a difference in our community. They are an amazing partner, and we're lucky to be able to work with them to support our community's seniors.
