Flight For Freedom announces return to New York City
April 11, 2011
In 2001, Nick participated in the Flight for Freedom, organized by Sho and Loen Dozono following the tragic events of 9/11.
They led a delegation of close to 1,000 Oregonians to New York to support the city's fragile economy and to express solidarity with the people of New York.
The Flight for Freedom delegation marched in the Columbus Day Parade, attended a service at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and met with firefighters throughout the city.
Today, Commissioner Fish, Sho and Loen Dozono, and Jack McGowan announced that they will return to New York City for the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
At the invitation of Mayor Bloomberg, they will return for the unveiling of the memorials in tribute to the Fallen Firefighters over the weekend of September 11, 2011.
During the trip, Oregonians will reaffirm the unique bond which connects Oregon and New York and pay tribute to the brave and selfless firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11.
