Last week, the Portland Housing Bureau received exciting news: the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded PHB $1.35 million in new federal funding to support S4H, a project of "national significance." We are one of 8 cities to receive funding, chosen from a pool of 46 applications.

The S4H program, Springboard to Stability, Self-Sufficiency, and Health, is a collaborative program combining Cascade AIDS Project's work to provide rent assistance, case management, and housing services with the employment services of Worksystems, Inc. This new funding will help 60 households in our community, and will also support community planning work to integrate HIV-specific resources with "mainstream" housing and services.

"It's a big win for our community when we bring new dollars to help our most vulnerable neighbors," Nick told Just Out's Ryan Prado earlier this week.

Nick will take part in Sunday's AIDS Walk, a benefit for CAP. Since 1986, the pledge walk has raised funds to support AIDS care and education in Portland. The annual event draws thousands of participants, community recognition, and support. Visit AIDSWalkPortland.org for more.
