Next Tuesday, the Minority Homeowner Assistance Collaborative (MHAC) will be holding an informational session on the Oregon State Property Tax Deferral Program at the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs.
We're proud to partner with MHAC. Recently, the Portland Housing Bureau extended and expanded funding for MHAC's Free Homeownership Retention Program, which supports senior homeowners in the Portland area.
MHAC is a local collaborative of non-profit organizations - including the African American Alliance for Homeownership (AAAH), Hacienda CDC, NAYA, and PCRI - offering culturally specific homeowner education and counseling to families who want to purchase and to seniors who are at risk of losing their home to foreclosure.
Last year, the Homeownership Retention Program served over 100 residents of North and Northeast Portland, providing resources and referrals that connected seniors to organizations offering free services to help seniors maintain homeownership. They also offered free home repair, utility assistance, tax deferments, free legal assistance and foreclosure prevention service.
