Estate gift benefits Community Music Center
December 29, 2011
Portland Parks & Recreation’s Community Music Center (CMC) will be receiving some much-needed equipment thanks to a generous gift of $20,000 from the Jack Malcom estate. The gift funded the purchase of 8 digital pianos and other musical instruments, and will also support scholarships to help low-income students access music lessons.
Located in Southeast Portland, the Community Music Center serves families across the Portland area and support those with limited economic means by increasing access to music performances and educational opportunities.
All the music equipment will be delivered by Classic Pianos at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, January 4. The first class of 6 to 9 year olds using the new pianos will occur on Tuesday, January 10 at 4:00 to 4:45 pm. The public and media are invited to both events.
