E205 upgrades continue despite tough budget forecast
February 9, 2012
We hope you saw Steve Beaven's great story about our E205 initiative today in The Oregonian.
In the face of an abysmal budget outlook, Beaven writes, we're not seeking additional money to support E205 in the coming fiscal year.
But the program will continue bringing new playground equipment and other amenities to park properties East of the I205 freeway: projects we completed in 2011 came in under budget, which means there's still about $175,000 remaining from Council's $500,000 allocation in last year's budget.
In 2011, we upgraded Ed Benedict, Parklane, Gilbert, West Powellhurst, and Cherry parks. Still in the pipeline are Ventura, Lynchwood, the Columbia Slough Natural Area, and the Ed Benedict Community Garden.
Also on tap are new playgrounds for East Holiday Park and the East Portland Community Center - that work will begin this spring.
