Nick was delighted to join more than 1,000 neighbors, friends, alumni, and community leaders at the grand opening ceremony for Concordia University’s new Hilken Community Stadium last Saturday.
The Hilken Community Stadium is a year-round soccer and baseball athletic complex that spans four city blocks and was made with Nike Grind turf infill, created from approximately six million recycled shoes.
The stadium is also the new home field for Northeast United Soccer Club and Central Catholic baseball. Both the soccer and baseball fields have a press box and stadium seating for more than 1,000 spectators.
The $7.5 million dollars complex will be used by Concordia University and many local community groups.
