This Friday, March 30, join Portland Parks & Recreation, Native American Youth & Family Center (NAYA), and NW Indian Veterans Association at a red cedar tree planting event to honor veterans and elders.
The event will start at 10:30am in the back yard near the Sawash House on 5135 NE Columbia Boulevard. Community members who visit NAYA Family Center will be able to enjoy the tree as it grows for many years to come.
Youth who are currently attending our Parks Spring Break Camp will be studying the red cedar tree as a part of their educational experience at the camp, and will help plant the tree in its new home.
