Fishing permitted at selected Portland parks
July 3, 2012
Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) Director Mike Abbaté has issued a directive clarifying where riverbank fishing in PP&R parks along the Willamette River is allowed.
Director Abbaté acted on the recommendations of Portland Parks & Recreation staff to permit fishing at the following locations:
Kelley Point Park, N. Marine Dr & Lombard St – Columbia Slough, Willamette and Columbia Rivers
Cathedral Park, N. Edison & Pittsburg Ave – permitted in the entirety of the park as well as Cathedral Park’s fishing and light watercraft pier (at the south end of the park)
Sellwood Riverfront Park, SE Spokane & Oaks Pkwy
Powers Marine Park, SW Macadam Ave south of the Sellwood Bridge
Eastbank Esplanade, floating walkway between the Steel and Morrison bridges
Anglers must comply with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations.
Parks will continue to work with relevant City/State bureaus, and the fishing community to investigate additional fishing opportunities in the City of Portland.
PP&R makes safety a priority across all parks and natural areas. We encourage users to look out for the safety of all park users that are accessing the beach and docks, and to use care in regards to fishing line and bait. Anglers are expected to remove any items they bring with them when fishing.
