Washington Park Summer Festival kicks off Thursday

August 1, 2012

By David Nguyen

Thursday night, join Nick, our wonderful Summer Free For All sponsors, and community members at the opening night of the Washington Park Summer Festival, presented by Daimler.

Our special opening night performance, featuring local dance company Bodyvox, will begin at 6 pm Thursday at the Rose Garden Amphitheater in Washington Park.

The very talented Bodyvox dancers will be performing a version of their hit performance "Reverie," which is a unique athletic dance that resembles ballet and jazz.

The Festival is part of Portland Parks & Recreation’s Summer Free for All program, and features an exciting schedule of music and performances.

All Washington Park Summer Festival concerts are free to the public, and begin every night at 6 pm between August 2 - 11.  The final festival performance on August 12 will begin at 7:30 pm.

Parking can be challenging at these popular events.  Avoid parking hassles by riding TriMet to the park. Take MAX Blue or Red line to Jeld-Wen Field, King's Hill Station or the Oregon Zoo, then catch bus #83-Washington Park Loop which runs approximately every 25 minutes, offering extended service to accommodate concert crowds. Regular TriMet fares apply.

We'd like to give special thanks to our sponsors who help make Summer Free For All possible.
