International Tree Climbing Championship & World Conference Comes to Portland
August 8, 2012
The International Society of Arboriculture is coming to Portland!
This weekend, Portland Parks & Recreation will host the International Society of Arboriculture's world conference. Or, as explained by PP&R Urban Forestry Supervisor Larr Maginnis, "New Year's Day, the Super Bowl, and the 4th of July all wrapped into one for tree people."
Last year the conference was held in Australia, so this year Portland is fortunate to have it at our own Laurelhurst Park! Events begin Saturday, August 11 and continue through Sunday, August 12.
Come along for a free PP&R Urban Forestry bucket truck ride - letting kids and adults lift high above the park. Watch the world's best professional arborists scale trees and perform tree-care tasks in hopes of becoming the world's next Tree Climbing Champion. Try tree climbing for yourself with instruction by Tree Climbers International to ensure personal safety and care of the trees.
