Hooper Detoxification Stabilization Center 40th Anniversary

August 4, 2012

By David Nguyen

Join Central City Concern to celebrate 40 Years of the Hooper Detox Stabilization Center and the Sobering Station/CHIERS.

The event coincides with National Recovery Month, which helps promote the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental and substance use disorders.

Aside from impacting hundreds of thousands of people in Portland, the evolution of Hooper had an enormous impact on the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood. Central City Concern’s involvement with Hooper inspired their housing development work in the neighborhood when staff realized that getting people clean and sober was not enough - they needed safe homes in which to recover and gain self-sufficiency.

The event will feature cake, live music, and commemorative coins to the first 400 participants.
