Nuts about Nature

September 17, 2012

By David Nguyen

Portland Parks & Recreation’s 2012-2013 Nuts About Nature schedule is here!

Created in 2008 by a passionate local teacher named Chrissy Larson, the program helps children ages 3 to 7 connect to nature through ecology, songs, stories, play, & developmentally appropriate practice.

Each teacher at Nuts About Nature is a professional environmental educator who has experience working with very young children.

Children spend 2-3 hours outside, rain or shine, exploring in small groups with teachers who introduce ecology, read stories, sing songs, make projects, and engage in free play.

Classes are designed with a framework, but also remain flexible to accommodate the needs and interests of the group.
