Rose City Golf Course makes history

November 20, 2012

Portland Parks and Recreation’s Rose City Golf Course clubhouse has been officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Rose City Golf Course’s mission is to provide customers with an excellent experience while at our course. Staff work hard to provide customer service that will make visitors feel welcome and return.

The clubhouse, designed by architect Herbert A Angell, was built in 1932 and has not changed its outside appearance much since its original construction, while the interior has been updated and modernized as needed. The building now features an impressive rock fireplace and large finished beams with a fir tongue and grove ceiling.

Rose City Golf Course hopes to use the national historical listing as a way to acquire funds for an eventual restoration of the clubhouse.  The restored clubhouse on the National Register of Historic Places would be natural draw for more business, bringing in more private tournaments and events, and making the restaurant a neighborhood gathering place.

Come and visit the historic Rose City Golf Course clubhouse, and stay and enjoy a few rounds!  To learn more about this public golf course, and to sign up for your next tee time, visit the Rose City Golf Course online
