Tie the knot in a Portland park

December 24, 2012

Ready to tie the knot? Portland's Parks are an ideal (and affordable!) location for many brides and grooms-to-be.

Popular wedding venues include Mt. Tabor, the rose gardens in Washington Park, Hoyt Arboretum, Peninsula Park, and Cathedral Park, as well as the Portland Memory Garden, Council Crest, Rocky Butte, and the South Waterfront Garden. In total, 180 different parks and gardens are available!

Celebrations in our parks feature bubbles and bird seed instead of rice to shower happy couples.

Popular dates and locations are often reserved quickly, about 90 weddings were booked on the first day of last year.  The first day to book space and secure permits for weddings during 2013 will be Wednesday, January 2.

While the office does not open until 8 am on January 2, many couples line up as early as 5 am! Reservations are also available by phone and begin after all walk-in couples are helped, usually around 10:30 or 11 am.
