2012 Forest Park Wildlife Report
January 7, 2013
Did you know there are hundreds of species of wildlife living right here in our fair city?
Forest Park, the largest urban forested area within a city limit in the U.S., provides the perfect home for wildlife. Portland Parks & Recreation has published its 2012 Forest Park Wildlife Report, which documents the flora and fauna of the forest.
The Report was completed by wildlife biologist John Deshler. John led teams throughout the park to take a comprehensive wildlife inventory, and to create a report to help plan future park research and management efforts.
Information was gathered in a number of ways, including our first-ever volunteer-based Bioblitz. A Bioblitz is a 24-hour study led by experts to survey a designated piece of land and document its wildlife.
