Portland to host World Environment Day
February 20, 2013
Portland is being recognized for being green!
The United Nations Environmental Programme(UNEP) has selected Portland to host this year’s North American World Environment Day on June 5.
Portland was selected to host the celebration because it is repeatedly ranked number one among the top ten green cities in the United States.
Join us for a series of community events from Earth Day on April 22, to World Environment Day on June 5. This year’s World Environment Day theme “Reduce your Foodprint,” aiming to reduce food waste.
The UN General Assembly established World Environment Day in 1972. Today, it is celebrated in more than 120 nations and focuses international attention on environmental issues.
