Honoring Steve Weiss
February 25, 2013
Nick was pleased to join Elders in Action and community members on Saturday to celebrate and honor local leader and dedicated volunteer Steve Weiss, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday.
For over 17 years, Steve has been an inspiring advocate. Steve joined the Elders in Action Commission in 2000. Along with his involvement with Elders in Action, Steve is active in a number of community organizations like Independent Living resources, Community Alliance of Tenants, Oregon State Council of Retired Citizens and many others.
In 2007, Steve received the Oregon Governors Volunteer Award, and is a five-time recipient of the Multnomah County Volunteer Award.
The 70th birthday celebration honored Steve for his embodiment of the very best of civic spirit, and how he inspires us all with his steadfast advocacy on behalf of older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income Oregonians.
Nick was honored to present Steve with a City of Portland proclamation, naming February 23, 2013 a Day of Recognition for Steve.
Thank you Steve for your outstanding service!
