Today through June 21, get out and support your favorite small business to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of National Small Business Week.

Small businesses help drive Portland’s economy in a big way. 95 percent of businesses in Portland employ less than 50 people, and 76 percent employ less than 10. These small businesses deliver essential goods and services across the community.

Here are some more big facts about our small businesses:

• More than half of Americans own or work for a small business.
• Small businesses create 2 out of every 3 new U.S. jobs.
• 98% of Portland’s neighborhood businesses have 5 or fewer employees.
