Portlanders give small businesses a big Valentine
February 18, 2014
The recent winter storm brought out the best in Portland, with people coming together to keep our community safe.
But as people stayed home and out of the cold, our small business community took a hit.
The weekend before Valentine’s Day is traditionally a big weekend for Portland’s neighborhood shops. The severe weather impacted sales, forcing many to close.
Last week, in partnership with Venture Portland, Nick launched #pdxLOVESsmallbiz on Twitter to show our small businesses some love on Valentine’s Day.
The campaign quickly caught fire, and we’ve already heard from small businesses like Etcetera in St. Johns and betsy & iya in NW Portland. They enjoyed big sales over the Valentine’s Day weekend.
Let’s not lose the momentum. By shopping local, we can give our small businesses a boost year-round. And 70 cents of each dollar spent stays in our local economy.
Keep #pdxLOVESsmallbiz alive on Twitter – share your deals and favorite shops in Portland. Together, we can continue to support our neighborhood small businesses.
